The new human-like generation of crashtest dummies

If the aim is to recreate movement sequences, damage and injuries as accurately as possible, the biofidelic dummy should be used in future. These biofidelic dummies are constantly being further developed in collaboration with the HTW Dresden under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lars Hannawald and Dr. Michael Weyde and are manufactured using state-of-the-art technology in a specially designed dummy factory at CTS.

The special properties of the Biofidel dummy, in particular its comparability with real people, result from the special construction method. The physical properties of all the materials used correspond as closely as possible to the "components of a real person". Bone density and bone structure, for example, are modeled on the human skeleton in great detail. Due to the body density based on the human body, collision-related damage to vehicles, for example, can be simulated much more realistically than was previously possible with dummies made of steel and plastic. Furthermore, doctors can now relate the real injuries of the person involved in the accident directly to the damage caused by the biofidelic dummy used.
