Prototype development: rear underride guard as lifesavers

HS-Schoch tested in the previous weeks a prototype of a rear underride guard on the crash test facility in Münster. The primary development goal is to save lives. When a vehicle rear-end collides with a semi-trailer, with speeds over 40 km/h are the chances of survival for the vehicles occupants virtually next to none. The new rear underride guard from HS-Schoch offers significantly more protection in comparison to conventional systems. With this new system, minor injuries of the occupants in modern vehicles can be expected as a result of impact speeds of 65 km/h. This was confirmed through crash tests carried out at CTS. The rear underride guard was presented at this years’ IAA in Frankfurt. Details of this prototype including crash test videos can be found on the Homepage von HS-Schoch.
